ABOUT

Independent. Technically grounded. Commercially focused.

We exist because the gap between what frontier science makes possible and what organisations actually decide to do is wider than it should be.

HOW WE THINK

Strategy built on primary sources, not received wisdom.

Most technology strategy advice is filtered through layers of abstraction — analyst reports, vendor roadmaps, conference consensus. By the time it reaches a decision-maker, the signal has been smoothed into something that sounds authoritative but carries little of the original technical texture.

We work differently. Our starting point is always the primary technical literature and direct engagement with the scientists and engineers closest to the work. We form our own views — including when they differ from the prevailing narrative.

This is not contrarianism. It is rigour. The most consequential technology decisions are made under genuine uncertainty, where consensus is often wrong in ways that matter. Our job is to reduce that uncertainty — not to validate what a client already believes.

COLLECTIVE BACKGROUND

Built from the intersection of science and strategy.

The firm draws on backgrounds spanning deep-tech research, corporate strategy and technology commercialisation — inside research institutions, inside large industrial organisations, and in the space between them.

Technical depth

Direct experience in quantum physics, materials science, energy systems and space technology — as practitioners, not observers.

Strategic experience

Corporate strategy, technology assessment and investment analysis across energy, industrials, defence and advanced manufacturing.

Commercialisation

Experience translating early-stage technology into commercial reality — understanding the gap between laboratory capability and market-ready product.

Institutional knowledge

Deep familiarity with how large organisations make technology decisions — the internal dynamics, approval processes and political constraints.

INDEPENDENCE

No conflicts. No vendor relationships. No agenda beyond the client's.

We do not take fees from technology vendors, hardware manufacturers or investment funds. We do not have preferred partners whose products we are incentivised to recommend. We do not manage assets or take positions in the companies we advise on.

This independence is structural, not incidental. A client engaging us on a quantum computing strategy needs to know our assessment is not shaped by a relationship with a quantum hardware vendor. A client evaluating green hydrogen projects needs to know our view of the economics is not influenced by a fee arrangement with an electrolyser manufacturer.

We are paid by our clients, for our clients' benefit. That is the only commercial relationship we maintain.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Intellectual honesty

We say what we think. If the evidence points against a client's preferred conclusion, we say so clearly. Advice that confirms existing beliefs is not advice — it is expensive reassurance.

Technical rigour

We do not simplify to the point of distortion. The complexity of deep technology is real, and strategy built on oversimplified models will fail when it meets reality.

Decision focus

Analysis that does not lead to a decision is not strategy. Every engagement is oriented around the specific choices a client faces — not around producing a comprehensive document.

Proportionate confidence

We distinguish between what we know, what we believe, and what is genuinely uncertain. Projecting false confidence is a form of dishonesty. We are direct about the limits of what can be known.

Working with a small number of clients at any time.

We limit active engagements deliberately — it is the only way to give each client the depth the work requires. If you are facing a significant technology or market strategy decision, we would like to hear about it.
